- 1 medium turnip
- 5 large potatoes
- 3 extra large carrots
- 3 stalks of celery
- 1 medium yellow onion
- 1 lb of hamburger
- 1/2 tsp of black pepper corns
- 3-4 dried bay leaves
- enough salt to season lightly.
Add every thing together, don't break up the ground beef too much, cut everything chunky. Add enough cold water to cover everything. Bring to a boil, cover and simmer on low (1 to 3 on dial) till everything is nice and tender.
But best done in a slow cooker. Mixture brought to boil in the slow cooker on low. Cook over night.
